Alison Tolson paints a variety of English and Continental bobbins, which she initials APT. She started trading around 1994-5 and initially painted on SMP and Winslow bobbins. These are most likely to have been bought at Scottish lace days and at Ford Castle. She also painted on Alan Hazel’s (Ash Woodturning) bobbins.
Most of her current midlands bobbins are turned by Stuart Johnson, but with a distinctive thistle head. She also paints on Chris Parsons’ bobbins and occasionally machine turned bobbins supplied by Jan De Maertelaere in Belgium. She also paints his Continental bobbins.
Alison also carries a selection of lace supplies.
