David Naylor
Turner of bobbins in 1980’s. Based in Rayleigh in Essex, he only produced bobbins for a few years. David made bobbins ivory but also offered bobbins with inlaid Canadian Jade or Whitby Jet. He had offered a couple of bobbins in his 1987 catalogue made from Siberian Mammoth Ivory.
David used a variety of styles for his tails; such as acorns and bells, but the most striking one is his clasped fist tail.
David died suddenly at 48.

From David's 1987 catalogue:
- Non Slip Bobbins - this is my new design of bobbin head, not very different from hte conventional type - the big difference is that the thread will not slip. It has been proved successful by practical use on pillows during 1986. The non slip is available on all bobbins listed except honiton, at an extra cost.
- Bobbin Shanks - are available from 4.5mm to 6.5mm thick. Standard size is from 5 to 5.5mm.
- Colours - though I finish bobbins in the colour or colours in the list, I can, if you wish, finish bobbins in your choice of colour or colours. Colours availabel - Black, blue, green, orange, violet and yellow.
- Spangle End - My bobbins, with a few exceptions, are finished at the spangle end with either an ACORN or BELL which are standard and included in the price - or, with my trade mark, a carved clenched hand which holds the spangle. This is extra.
- Hand Coolers - a wide variety of my hand cut and polished semi-precious and decorative stone eggs.
