Margaret Wall

Margaret Wall paints wood and bone bobbins. Her bobbins, turned by her husband, have a very distinctive wide onion shaped head with a very flat top section.
Margaret paints a variety of things on her bobbins, and is well known for her Beatrix Potter series. She makes lovely commemoratives, for events, groups, or personal occasions.
She signs her bobbins MW, more recently this may be followed by the year (e.g. MW19).
We have come across a few unsigned bobbins which are Margaret's.
Margaret was one of only two bobbin painters / turners given permission by Frederick Warne to paint Beatrice Potter illustrations. The other was Chis Parsons

I can confirm I have only ever painted on my husband David's hand turned bobbins. Some earlier ones may have had a different head but that was only until I got my lace friends to gang up on him and got him to change the shape to be better for working with....he wouldn't listen to me!! (this was around 1984).
