Ken Smith
Ken Smith was based in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire and made a number of bobbins featuring Tunbridge ware.
His bobbins have a typical elongated tuplip head along with a flared tail, with some of the tails featuring a ball with the flare to give a recognisable thistle tail.

Jackie Poulter writes:
Ken became interested in making bobbins after he retired. He was quite involved with Cytringan Lacemakers (Kettering), and always delighted in showing his new designs. He started with plain bobbins in exotic woods and moved on to make striped bobbins by splicing different coloured woods, and intricate patterns with inlays. After that he occasionally made intricate chequer board designs. His bobbins had a very distinctive head that holds the thread really well.
