Mrs. Ballentine Dykes

Whilst most vintage non-wood bobbins we see are bone, Anne Ballentine Dykes was one of the few who turned in Ivory.  We understand that she also made some wooden bobbins, but is known for her ivory bobbins.

​Active from the early 70s, she was still making bobbins well into the 80s.  She was based in Surrey, England

Corinne Hughes provided this image from the Lace Guild magazine from 1982 showing that they were selling Ivory spiral inscription bobbin (one of those in this album of Mrs Ballentine Dykes) stating that it is ivory and was £17.25
