Gentlefolk
|
Gentlefolk were active until the early 2000s. They were based in Great Barr, near Birmingham.
The bobbins are distinctive. The Honiton bobbins have a pointed head, and the East Midlands bobbins' tails have a signature 'hat' like end. Pyrographed, the writing on the bobbins was often exceptionally small but precise. Ros Pressland writes about her bobbin: My husband bought this for me the year I started making lace in 1986, it was not cheap, in the lid is a label that says Gentlefolk lace bobbins and pyrography Birmingham Sue Gardner replied: I have a similar one from around that time. Bought it at my first ever lace fair at the NEC, still one of my all time favourites |
