Barry Pawson (Maire Studio)
Barry Pawson, turning bobbins at his home studio in Inglewood, New Zealand
Originally from England, Barry and Frances Pawson have lived in Inglewood, New Zealand, since they emigrated in the early 1970’s.
Nestled close to the stunning Mt Egmont/Taranaki, the fertile plains surrounding the area provide a wealth of raw materials and inspiration for many of the designs. Woodturning developed as a hobby during a 30-year teaching career.
After being asked to produce lace bobbins for a lace teacher, Barry began designing and developing his own styles from the local New Zealand timbers and beef bone.
Barry and Marie have now retired.
